Part-time English (Integrated skills)

The goal of this English class is to improve students' fluency and accuracy using the Communicative Method, which views each aspect of language learning (i.e. grammar, conversation, reading, and writing) as a necessary support for the others.  Students learn new vocabulary and grammar while enhancing their English communication skills in a discussion-based class.  We offer 5 class levels overall.

Available class levels: High beginner, Intermediate, Advanced

There are two schedules.

  • Mondays and Wednesdays (6:30 PM - 8:30 PM)
  • Saturdays (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM)

 

 

English for Beginners (level 1) 

  • Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays (3:00 PM - 5:00 PM) for 6 weeks*

Session Dates for English for Beginners on Tuesday and Thursdays:

  • January 8, 2019 - February 14, 2019
  • February 19, 2019 - March 28, 2019

 

 

  • Schedule: Saturdays (1:30 PM - 4:30 PM) for 8 weeks*

Session Dates for English for Beginners on Saturdays:

  • December 1, 2018 - February 2, 2019

 

*Notice: It here are 1 or 2 students in the English for Beginners class, the class hours are reduced as follow.

2 students: 16 hours of class per session

1 student: 10 hours of private lessons per session

 

 

Pronunciation, Stress, and Intonation of American English

The goal of this class is to help students improve their intelligibility when they speak English and reduce their native language accents. Students learn how to correctly produce and practice the individual sounds, syllable stress, word stress, rhythm, intonation, and features of connected speech in American English.  Additionally, pronunciation instruction has a positive effect on listening comprehension.  This class is designed for students who have an intermediate to advanced level of English proficiency.  

There are two sessions of this class. New students start every week.

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays (6:30 PM - 8:30 PM)
  • Saturdays (1:30 PM - 4:30 PM)

 

 

Writing and Editing in English

This is specialized 40-hour English course that meets for 4 hours per week for 10 weeks. The goal of this course is to help students write clearly and accurately. The focus will be on using correct grammatical structures and writing clear sentences and paragraphs. Students will learn to detect and correct grammatical errors in their writing. Students will practice proofreading, editing, and revising their writing. Grammar will be incorporated in the context of the writing and editing assignments. This course is designed for non-native English speakers with an advanced level of English proficiency who want to improve their writing skills. The class size is 3 to 8 students. It is offered seasonally (winter, spring, summer, and fall). There are two class schedules.

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays (6:30 PM - 8:30 PM) - offered summer and fall

  • summer: June 18, 2019 - August 27, 2019
  • fall: September 10, 2019 - November 16, 2019
